MYMENSINGH: A local Awami League (AL) leader was slaughtered at Khagati village in Trishal upazila of the district early Wednesday.

Abdul Matin was a freedom fighter and also the president of ward no 8 of Mathbaria union unit Awami League.

Police, on information, recovered the throat-slit body of Abdul Matin Master from his pond around 11:15 am and informed the matter to police.

Later the body was sent to the local hospital morgue, said Zakiur Rahman, OC (officer-in-charge) of Trishal Police Station.
 
Matin come out from his home around 12 am on Tuesday and went to his pond to watch out, said family his members.
 
The motive behind the killing could not be known immediately, said the OC.
