AL leader hacked dead in Naogaon Moshiur Rahman Babu

NAOGAON: Vice President of Aranagar union Awami League unit in Dhamoirhat upazila of Naogaon Moshiur Rahman Babu was hacked dead allegedly by his rivals. 

Police arrested three persons over the incident.

The detainees are—Raja, Yususf and Maruf.

Locals said that Moshiur, 45, engaged in a scuffle with his neighbor Hamidul Islam, at Aranagar High School area on Monday evening (July 9), over a land dispute.

At one stage, several persons including Raja stabbed Moshiur indiscriminately, and fled the scene immediately.

Locals rescued Moshiur and whisked-off to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH).

He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment there, on Tuesday morning (July 10).  

“Three persons were detained on Monday, over the incident of stabbing. But, no written complaint was found yet, at the police station. Legal action will be taken once the complaint is received,” Dhamoirhat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jakirul Islam told Banglanews.
