BNP to make country land of terrorism if comes to power: Quader

DHAKA: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said BNP will make the country a land of terrorism, if it comes to power even for one day.

Bangladesh will go to an abyss if power is vested on BNP even for a day. In that one day, a river of blood will flow and country will be a dwelling place for violence.

Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, made the remarks while addressing a workshop on women leadership at a hotel in city’s Gulshan area on Wednesday noon (July 11).

Mentioning the opposition BNP, Quarter said, “Join the upcoming Jatiya Sangsad polls then popularity will be contested. If people don’t vote for us, we won’t be able to form government. So you (BNP) can check your reputation by joining the election since you had not taken any lesson from Khulna or Gazipur city polls.”

BNP leaders have been reiterating that the party will not participate in the general election keeping its chairperson Khaleda Zia behind bars. In response to such remarks, Quader said, “BNP has no accordance with their own works and words. The election schedule will be announced in October and we will see what they do.”

Khaleda Zia was given jail sentenced by court and will be released from jail if court orders. BNP speaks about the matter in a way that seems it is Awami League or Sheikh Hasina who imprisoned her, Quader added.

Recently, BNP leaders alleged that Election Commission secretary Helaluddin Ahmed regularly goes to AL party office. In response, Quader said, “I am challenging what you are accusing EC secretary for. He never went to AL office. The allegation is completely fabricated, false and politically motivated. BNP will have to provide evidence for this claim.”
