Khaleda’s British lawyer denied entry to India

DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s British lawyer Lord Carlile of Berriew QC returned from Delhi Airport Wednesday night (July 11) as India did not allow him to enter the country

Lord Carlile was told by the immigration officers at the airport hat his visa was cancelled.

As a member of the lawyers’ panel of Khaleda Zia, House of Lords member Lord Carlile was supposed to hold a press briefing in Delhi Thursday (July 12).

The India administration scrapped the visa as it wasn’t fit for allowing him to enter Delhi, said reports of Indian media.

Lord Carlile earlier vowed to hold a press briefing in Bangladesh. He was neither given a visa nor denied by Bangladesh administration. Therefore, he intended to hold a press briefing in Delhi.

The British lawyer thinks that the cases against Khaleda Zia are fabricated and motivated.

Moreover, he considers the testimony and evidences submitted to the court aren’t acceptable. He was supposed to explain the matters in a press briefing.

Lord Carlile, Baron Carlile of Berriew, CBE, QC, FRSA is a Crossbench member of the House of Lords. He has been described as one of Britain's top legal experts.
