DHAKA: Jailed BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s physical condition is so deteriorated that she could not meet family members who went to see her in jail, said Khaleda’s sister Selina Islam.

Five family members of Khaleda Zia including Selina went to the central jail in Nazimuddin road to meet her on Saturday afternoon (July 14).

Later Selina told reporters she (Khaleda) is sick and could not come down to the meeting room on ground floor from her cell on the first floor of the prison. 

BNP chairperson’s press wing member Shairul Kabir Khan told Banglanews that family members entered the prison and waiting at the meeting room but Khaleda Zia could not meet them due to serious illness.

Family members last met Khaleda in jail on July 30. BNP leaders have been demanding for her treatment in city’s United Hospital but authority denied the request saying that she can only take treatment at government hospital as per jail code.
