DHAKA: BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi expressed his dissatisfaction over the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) in elections.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, “This machine (EVM) can easily change election result. It’s possible to manipulate election through remote control. So, this government directed Election Commission (EC) to use EVM.”
The senior BNP leader made this remark at city’s party office in Nayapaltan area on Thursday (July 19).
The BNP leader also said “With the implementation of EVM by directives from the government, EC is heading towards a large election. The government has no popularity. Therefore, they are complicating situations. EVM is opposed to fair elections. Bangladeshi voters disagree with the use of EVM. The use of EVM is digital sabotage of infringement of voting right.”
Urging EC to retreat from its decision to use EVM in all elections including national one which is against the will of people, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, “At the same time, we demand the reconstitution of EC by removing the senior officials who are party-oriented.”
