DHAKA: Popular musician Shafin Ahmed officially joined the Jatiya Party (JP). 

Shafin joined the party by meeting JP chairman HM Ershad at his Baridhara residence on Thursday (July 19).

JP presidium member and National Sangskritik Party president Masud parvez Sohel Rana was also present at the time.

Expressing hope over Shafin’s join, JP chairman Ershad said renowned singer Shafin’s decision will motivate other cultural activists to join the party. 

On the issue of participating in the upcoming parliamentary election, Ershad said JP is ready to contest in 300 parliamentary seats. However, the plan might change depending on BNP’s participation in the polls.

Earlier in February 2017, Shafin Ahmed joined the Nationalist Democratic Movement (NDM) as a former executive member. He also participated in the Dhaka North City Corporation mayoral elections earlier this year.
