KUSHTIA: Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Kushtia district has claimed that none of the student wing’s members were involved in the attack on Amar Desh acting editor Mahmudur Rahman in Kushtia court premises.
Kushtia district BCL president Yasir Arafat Tushar made the claim at a press conference held in a Chinese restaurant in Kushtia city on Tuesday noon (July 24).
While reading out a written statement, Tushar said I am the one who filed the case against Mahmudur Rahman as plaintiff. On that day, we were present at court for a certain period of time and left court premises at 3:00pm with BCL leaders and activists. BCL men were not involved in the matter in anyway. Jamaat and BNP, due to their internal political conflict, tried to setup a trap for BCL.
Kishtia BCL general secretary Sad Ahmed was also present at the news conference. He said Mahmudur Rahman came out of the courtroom after holding secret meeting with pro-BNP lawyers and leaders. Masked miscreants attacked him while pro-BNP lawyers were escorting Mahmudur out of the court premises.
BCL men are soldiers of Bangabandhu’s ideals and don’t attack anyone hiding their face with towels. No pro-BNP lawyers were attack on that day which proves that it was an attack staged by BNP-Jaamat to shift the blame on BCL. We are urging the administration to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice, Sad Ahmed added.
Earlier on Sunday (July 22), Amar Desh acting Editor Mahmudur Rahman sustained injuries as members of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) allegedly attacked him in a court premise in Kushtia district after the court granted bail to him in a case filed for making derogatory comments against Bangabandhu and PM Hasina.
