DHAKA: BNP Standing Committee member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain said a free, fair and acceptable election is not possible under the authorization of the present Election Commission (EC) and it will be proved once the polls to three city corporations are held.
Mosharraf was addressing a discussion on the demand of a polls-time neutral government, organized by National Awami Party (NAP-Bhashani), at the Jatiya Press Club Saturday (July 28).
“Awami League seeks victory by using administration and police in the polls to three city corporations. Meanwhile, it has been clear in the attitude of administration,” he said.
“Our agents won’t be allowed in the polling centers of the three cities. They would be driven out (from the centers), if they were allowed there though,” he added.
Mosharraf further said that convicted BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s release is a must to ensure the upcoming national parliamentary polls acceptable.
However, polls to Rajshahi, Barisal and Sylhet city corporations will be held on July 31.
