COMILLA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia filed an appeal with the High Court Sunday (July 29) challenging the Comilla court order that had rejecter her bail in a case over an arson attack in the district.
Lawyer Barrister AKM Ehsanur Rahman confirmed the matter to Banglanews, in the morning.
On July 25, Judge KM Shamsul Alam of Comilla District and Sessions Judge Court denied her bail after hearing, disposing the petition as per the High Court’s order.
On July 23, the High Court denied Khaleda Zia bail and directed the lower court concerned in Comilla to hear and dispose of her bail petition.
During the BNP-led alliance's movement on February 3 in 2015, eight people were killed and 20 others injured as miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at a bus at Jogmohanpur in Chouddagram.
Two cases were filed against Khaleda following the incident.
On February 8 this year, Khaleda was sent to jail after a special court sentenced her to five years' rigorous imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case.
