BARISAL: Mayoral candidate from Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal for Barisal City Corporation Manisha Chakraborty alleged that polling agents of Awami League’s mayoral candidates physically assaulted her during her visit to a polling station.

After dropping her vote around 9:45 am at the Oxford Mission High School voting center, Manisha Chakraborty visited different centers on Monday (July 30).

“Sealed ballot papers were seen torn. When asked about it, polling agents, wearing badges of boat, assaulted us at Government Girls High School polling centre,” Manisha told reporters.

On the other hand, Probhash Kumar Mondol, presiding officer of the centre, ruled out the allegation.

He said, “Manisha’s complaint is totally baseless. She is visiting polling centers freely.”
