DHAKA: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir demanded resignation of Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan as well as the government in the wake of students’ countrywide demonstration over the last few days.
He came up with this demand at a press conference held in city’s Naya Paltan party office on Thursday (August 2).
The BNP leader said, “This unelected and illegal government completely failed to tackle incidents including road accidents happening one after another. I, therefore, urge people to join demonstration to topple this regime. We demand resignation of this government as soon as possible.”
Replying to a question posed by the reporters, he said, “The students’ demands, for which they have come down to streets, are logical. We show solidarity with their demands.”
