DHAKA: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said the opposition BNP says they want dialogue but they actually want conflicts.
“That is why they are repeatedly instigating for confrontation. However, they have failed to influence the previous quota movement and current students’ movement for safe roads,” he added.
Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, made the remarks while addressing as chief guest at a discussion in secretariat premises on Thursday (August 9).
The discussion was organized by Secretariat Officer-Employees Unity Council marking the National Mourning Day that to observed on August 15.
Quader said, “How come dialogue is possible with those who rewarded the killers of Bangabadhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and tried to kill Sheikh Hasina by throwing grenades on August 21? Even after all that, PM Hasina called and invited their chairperson for dinner prior to the January 5 election in 2014. They rejected the offer in a non-political manner. So How is it possible to hold dialogue with them?”
“I want to remind those who are calling for dialogue that we want BNP to join polls. But in reality dialogue is just bluff to BNP because no results will come from it,” Quader said.
