DHAKA: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court put a ‘no order’ on the petition filed by the state challenging a six-month High Court bail granted to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, in an arson case filed in Comilla in 2015.
So, the HC bail will remain upheld, said lawyers on Sunday (August 12).
The Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain imposed the ‘no order’ on the state plea.
On Thursday (August 9), the SC fixed August 12 for passing an order on the petition.
During the BNP-led alliance's movement on February 3 in 2015, eight people were killed and 20 others injured as miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at a bus at Jogmohanpur in Chouddagram.
Two cases were filed against Khaleda following the incident.
On February 8 this year, Khaleda was sent to jail after a special court sentenced her to five years' rigorous imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case.
