DHAKA: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, quoting the prime minister, said the polls-time government will be of similar size like the past times and won’t incorporate any technocrat minister.
Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has finalized the decision, he said while briefing the media at the conference room of his ministry at the secretariat, around 11am Tuesday (September 11).
However, ‘technocracy’ is a form of government wherein decision-makers are chosen for a governing office based on their technical expertise and background.
“The lawmakers from the political parties represented at the national parliament only will be placed at the polls-time government this time,” said Quader, also the minister for road transport & bridges.
“Jatiya Party has requested to include their 2-3 more lawmakers in this short-tenured government. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina herself will decide this,” he added.
However, Quader further said his party already has fixed several decisions ahead of the national polls to be held in late December. One of these is to ‘sharing 65 constituencies with the allies’.
“However, everything will depend on polarization. Meanwhile, Jatiya Party has said they will contest in the election singly, if BNP doesn’t join in,” the minister added.
