Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd confirmed the final of the ongoing edition of Bashundhara Group Independence Cup after beating Abahani Limited by 3-2 in the first semifinal at the Bir Shrestha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on Wednesday.

Sheikh Russel KC earlier emerged as unbeaten Group A champions after they drew 1-1 against Fortis FC before they beat Bangladesh Navy (2-0), and Mohammedan SC (3-0) by handsome margins.

The former Independence Cup champions later beat Chittagong Abahoni Ltd by 1-0 goals in the first quarterfinal to make it to the last four.

Meanwhile, Dhaka Abahani also emerged champions with an all-win record from Group C.

They beat Uttara FC by 2-0 goals in the first match before they defeated Bangladesh Air Force and Muktijoddha Sangsad KC by a 3-1 margin in both games.

Dhaka Abahani advanced to the semis after beating Sheikh Jamal DC by 2-1 goals in the third quarterfinal which went into extra time. Bashundhara Kings will play against Bangladesh Police FC in the second semifinal at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj on Thursday.
