Abahani Limited Dhaka tasted their first defeat in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League football when they suffered a 1-2 goal defeat to defending champions Bashundhara Kings held today (Friday) at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla.
In the day's match, Brazilian midfielder Miguel Figueira struck twice for Bashundhara Kings while defender Rezaul Karim Reza netted a lone goal for Abahani Limited.
Miguel Figueira opened an account scoring the first goal for Bashundhara Kings in the 25th minute while Rezaul leveled the margin for Abahani Limited in the 36th minute of the match.
After the resumption, Miguel Figueira sealed the victory scoring his second goal for Bashundhara in the 71st minute of the match.
Abahani Limited however tried heart and soul to stage a fight back in the match but they failed to score any in the remaining proceeding and eventually they had to leave the field with empty hand.
With day's win, Bashundhara Kings extended their lead with 30 points from 10 matches while the popular sky blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani Limited, who stayed second position in the league table, remained with 18 points playing nine outings.
