Bangladesh win toss, send England to field first

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first against England in the opening game of the three-match ODI series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur of Dhaka on Wednesday (Mar 1).

Bangladesh have won 17, out of their last 21, ODIs at home since October, 2018 while they also won 13 out of their last 14 home ODI series since 2014 which are enough to describe their dominance while playing in their own backyard.

The Tigers’ last ODI series defeat at home came in 2016 when they lost to England by a 1-2 margin but since losing the series, Bangladesh won seven consecutive ODI series at home against strong teams like West Indies, Sri Lanka and India.

Bangladesh previously played four bilateral ODI series against England (three at home) but they were unable to win any of the series against the Three Lions – a streak that the Tigers are desperately looking to change this time around.
