Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusingha has said that Afif Hossain has been kept out because of his performance, not face.
He told the media ahead of the first T20I against Ireland on Sunday (Mar 26).
Hathurusingha said, “He is out of the team now. He has to do what he needs to do now. Go and run. I talked to him about improvement in some areas.”
“If he can do it, then the team needs someone. Then he will get a chance like everyone else,” he added.
On March 22, Bangladesh Cricket Board declared 14-member squad for the upcoming three-match Twenty20 international series against visitors Ireland excluding Afif Hossain and wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan Sohan.
Afif Hossain made his T20I debut against Sri Lanka back in 2018. Later, he played his second T20I against Zimbabwe in 2019.
