Najmul Hossain Shanto made team-high 124, his second century in this match which made him the only second Bangladesh batter to hit centuries in both innings of a Test. Mominul Haque was not on 121 off 145, hitting 12 fours and one six.
Mominul's 12th century however came after two years and 27 innings.
Opener Zakir Hasan scored 71 while captain Liton Das was unbeaten on 66.
Bangladesh's declaration came one hour after the tea session as the hosts ensured that Afghanistan would be batted out of the game.
Certainly the Afghans would have to rewrite the record book if they want to win the game.
Left-arm wrist spinner Zahir Khan claimed 2-112 for Afghanistan while left-arm spinner Amir Hamza took 1-90.
Bangladesh were bowled out for 382 in its first innings before dismissing Afghanistan for 146. Instead of enforcing following, they chose to bat again to ensure that Afghanistan would bat in the fourth innings.
