The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a generous Tk 35 lakh bonus for the Women's cricket team following their remarkable performance against the Indian Women's team.
Although the three-match T20 series resulted in a 2-1 loss for Bangladesh, they demonstrated exceptional prowess in the three-match ODI series, which ended in a thrilling draw after the last match was tied.
The highlight of the series was Bangladesh's historic maiden ODI victory against the formidable Indian side, securing a rain-hit first ODI triumph by a convincing 40 runs. While India retaliated with a dominant 108-run victory in the second game, Bangladesh displayed remarkable resilience in the third game, compelling India to settle for a tie.
Notably, Fargana Hoque Pinky etched her name in the record books by becoming the first Bangladeshi woman cricketer to score a century in ODI cricket, achieving a commendable 107 runs in the third ODI.
BCB president, Nazmul Hassan Papon, praised the team's outstanding efforts, acknowledging the challenges they face due to limited facilities compared to other nations. Despite the constraints, he emphasized their unyielding spirit and the ability to compete fiercely against any adversary.
Addressing the team's captain, Nigar Sultana Joty, Papon conveyed the news of the well-deserved bonus. He expressed his belief that the way the Bangladeshi girls played against India showcased significant progress and an indication of their bright future in cricket.
