Indian won the toss against Bangladesh on Friday and decided to bowl first against the Bangla Tigers at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The coin toss went Rohit Sharma’s way as the Indian skipper chose to field first against Shakib Al Hasan’s men.
Team India take on Bangladesh in the last game of the Super 4 in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 tournament in Sri Lanka on Friday.
The fortunes and ambitions of the teams will be wildly different considering the fact that the men in blue have already sealed their place in the final of the tournament with two consecutive wins in their two previous Super 4 fixtures against Pakistan and hosts Sri Lanka.
India beat Pakistan by a whopping 22 runs in a record win against the arch-rival as former Indian captain and returning wicketkeeper Virat Kohli and KL Rahul notched up a ton each, with both players remaining unbeaten at 122 and 111 runs respectively.
India then registered another win against Sri Lanka as Rohit and Co. triumphed by 41 runs over the hosts to book their place in the final in stunning fashion.
While, Bangladesh, on the other hand, have nothing to play for but pride, as they have been knocked out of the contention to fight for the coveted continental trophy in the summit clash following two defeats in their earlier games against Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
The Bangla Tigers went down to Pakistan by 7 wickets and 63 balls to spare, before conceding yet another defeat against Sri Lanka by a margin of 21 runs.
Despite having qualified for the summit clash, team India will look to pick up yet another win against Bangladesh and enter the championship clash unbeaten in the tournament with momentum on their side.
