A Bangladesh Cricket Board official said on Saturday that they have shortlisted 20 young wrist spinners for a long-term programme.
The BCB game development earlier selected 80 wrist-spinners after conducting a talent-hunting programme across the country and on Saturday, they finalized the names of 20 players for the long-term programme that is expected to run for 20 weeks in two years.
Pakistani leg-spinner Shahed Mahmud, who was part of the talent hunt programme, will be guiding the 15 spinners along with other game-development coaches, while the BCB is looking to bring some foreign experts for the fast-track programme.
“We have selected five spinners for the fast track programme as they were part of our Under-19 setup while 15 spinners, who played in different age group tournaments, are selected for development programmes,” said AEM Kawsar, the BCB’s game development manager.
“The programme is scheduled to start this month and we will have a three-week camp initially and later will have similar week-long camps in the coming one and a half years or two years,” he concluded. Along with them, a few other age-level spinners will also join the camp.
