Lithuania’s Mykolas Alekna has made history by becoming the first male athlete to surpass the 75-metre barrier in the discus throw, setting a new world record in stunning fashion.

Competing at a Continental Tour Bronze event in Ramona, Oklahoma, the 22-year-old phenom opened with a massive 74.89m throw, eclipsing his own previous world record.

But he wasn’t done yet—Alekna went even further in the fourth round, launching the discus 75.56m to rewrite the record books once more.

This remarkable feat follows Alekna’s historic performance at the same venue last year, when he threw 74.35m to break a world record that had stood unchallenged since 1986. His latest throw not only extends his dominance but also sets a new benchmark in men's athletics.

Australia’s Matt Denny also delivered a world-class performance, taking second place with a personal best of 74.78m—surpassing the old world record by 43 centimeters, though still falling just short of Alekna’s monumental mark.

Alekna, who secured Olympic silver at Paris 2024 after narrowly missing gold to Jamaica’s Roje Stona by just three centimeters, continues to establish himself as one of the sport’s most promising and powerful throwers.

His record-breaking performance cements his status as the leading force in men’s discus, pushing the sport into uncharted territory and setting the stage for even greater achievements in the years ahead.
