Bangladesh begin their three-match One-Day International (ODI) series against Sri Lanka at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo today.

Newly appointed captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz will lead the side as they look to bounce back from six straight ODI defeats and start fresh in Sri Lankan conditions.

Bangladesh are expected to test a new opening pair with Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Parvez Hossain Emon, while the middle order will rely on Towhid Hridoy, Litton Das, Jaker Ali and Miraz himself to provide stability and runs. 

Former captain Najmul Hossain Shanto’s good record against Sri Lanka could be key for the Tigers as they look to overcome batting struggles.

Pace spearhead Taskin Ahmed returns to strengthen the bowling attack, aiming to counter Sri Lanka’s experienced batting line-up and dangerous spin duo of Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana.

Bangladesh last defeated Sri Lanka in an ODI series at home but have never won an ODI at the Premadasa, losing all ten previous matches at the venue.

They now hope to break that record and secure their first ODI series win on Sri Lankan soil.
