Cole Palmer orchestrated a dazzling Chelsea display as the Premier League side secured a commanding 3-0 victory over reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain, lifting the newly expanded Club World Cup at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

The England international netted twice in the opening half and assisted Joao Pedro's sublime strike, guiding the Blues to a decisive win over an in-form PSG.

Palmer opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a composed low finish past Gianluigi Donnarumma, following Malo Gusto’s run behind Nuno Mendes. He doubled the advantage just eight minutes later, executing a clever feint before firing a near-identical effort from the edge of the box.

Moments before half-time, Palmer sliced PSG's defence with a precise through-ball to Joao Pedro, who lofted his shot over Donnarumma to cap a clinical first half for Chelsea.

In response, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia tested Robert Sanchez early in the second half, with the Chelsea keeper also thwarting Ousmane Dembele from close range. Substitute Liam Delap saw his effort turned away as PSG struggled to recover from missed first-half chances by Joao Neves and Desire Doue.

Any hopes of a comeback were extinguished in the 85th minute when Neves was dismissed following a VAR review for pulling Marc Cucurella's hair.

PSG manager Luis Enrique also drew scrutiny after appearing to slap Joao Pedro during heated post-match scenes, with Presnel Kimpembe intervening to separate the pair. Enrique later claimed he was attempting to de-escalate tensions, attributing the incident to match pressure.

The final drew a record crowd of 81,118, including US President Donald Trump and FIFA president Gianni Infantino. Chelsea, now world champions, walk away with an estimated £90 million prize fund.
