World number one Jannik Sinner captured his maiden Wimbledon title in commanding fashion, outlasting Spanish rival Carlos Alcaraz in a riveting Grand Slam final at the All England Club.
The 23-year-old Italian prevailed 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 against the two-time defending champion, avenging his dramatic French Open defeat to the world number two just over a month ago. In Paris, Sinner had held championship points before Alcaraz mounted a five-set comeback. This time, Sinner held firm on Centre Court to claim his fourth Grand Slam trophy and first away from hard courts.
"It is so special. I'm living my dream," said Sinner after sealing the win, ending Alcaraz's 24-match unbeaten run.
Demonstrating poise and control, the top seed served out the match from a 3-1 lead in the final set. Though he missed his initial championship point, Sinner composed himself to convert the next, sinking to his haunches in celebration.
The loss denied 22-year-old Alcaraz a chance to become only the fifth man in the Open era to win three consecutive Wimbledon titles.
"It’s always tough to lose, but I want to congratulate Jannik," Alcaraz said. "He deserved this victory—he’s been playing fantastic tennis and will remain a fierce rival."
The contest highlighted the duo’s elite athleticism and shot-making prowess, solidifying their status as tennis’s dominant forces.
