The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) are in advanced discussions to host a rescheduled white-ball series in October 2024, comprising three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), according to a report by Cricbuzz.

The series is likely to take place in Dubai during the first half of October, as both teams are committed to other international fixtures later in the month.

Bangladesh is set to host the West Indies in a full home series, while Afghanistan will tour Zimbabwe.

Originally, Bangladesh was scheduled to play two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is in Afghanistan in July 2024. However, the BCB requested a postponement, citing player workload concerns.

Subsequently, the ACB proposed hosting a white-ball series in Greater Noida, India, in July–August. However, that plan was dropped due to concerns over the monsoon season.

BCB cricket operations manager Shahriar Nafees told Cricbuzz, “Discussions are underway with the ACB regarding playing three ODIs and three T20Is as part of the postponed series in 2024.

The remaining two Test matches will be held later at a time convenient to both boards.”

He added that while the venue is yet to be finalized, both boards are optimistic about staging the matches in October.

“We played three ODIs with Afghanistan earlier, but that was not part of this postponed series,” Nafees clarified.

An ACB spokesperson, Syed Nasim Sadat, also confirmed ongoing discussions but declined to share further details.

If finalized, the October series will help both teams gear up for upcoming international commitments while making up for the postponed bilateral engagement.
