Bangladesh show fighting qualities

DHAKA: Bangladesh fought back on the fourth day of the first Test against West Indies in St. Vincent.

The tigers reached 256-5 at the end of 4th day, still trailing by 46 but having shown a great deal of resilience and concentration.

Having bowled out the visitors for 182 Sunday to take a lead of 302 from the first innings, West Indies surprised no one at the start of the day and enforced the follow on.

Starting 302 runs adrift, Bangladesh overcame a shaky start to produce a much improved batting performances, led by Captain Mushfiqur Rahim.

He struck 70 not out while he and Mahmudullah (66) put on 130 together for the fourth wicket to frustrate the home side.

The captain got support from Imrul Kayes 25, Mahmudullah 66 and Tamim Iqbal, 53 against Kemar Roach 2-39, Sulieman Benn 2-44 and Chris Gayle 1-50.

Bangladesh were dismissed for 182 on the stroke of close on day-3 and asked to follow-on on Monday's 4th day.
