Bangladesh-Sri Lanka match ends in draw

DHAKA: The friendly match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka national teams ended in 1-1 draw at Shams-Ul–Huda Stadium in Jessore on Friday.

Bangladesh took the lead in the 17th minute when forward Zahid Hasan Emily beautifully headed a Yamim Munna cross from the left flank.

Sri Lankan goal keeper Sujan Perera managed to stop the ball but it slipped from his gloves and entered into the net.

However, Sri Lankan midfielder Nalaka Roashan equalized in the 26th minute from a free kick from the top of the box.

Sri Lankan goal-keeper Sujan Perera saved his team from conceding the second as he managed to punch an Emily header to safety in the injury time of the first half.

Emily got two more chances to score in the 40th and 45th minutes that were saved by Sujan Perera.

The second half saw a number of counter attacks but the teams failed to score a goal.

The second match of the series will be held at Muktijoddha Smriti Stadium in Rajshahi at 3:00pm on October 27.
