Monsoon rains may play spoilsport

DHAKA: Bangladesh is all set to take on India in the one-off Test match of the bilateral series in Fatullah of Narayanganj on Wednesday.

But rain scare looms large over the Test match as Southwest Monsoon has already entered Bangladesh, reports skymetweather.com.

As of now, Southwest Monsoon has covered eastern parts of Bangladesh. It is expected to cover remaining parts of the country in the next 4 to 5 days. Fatullah lies in Central Bangladesh which is expected to receive rainfall activity in the coming days.

Although Day 1 may escape Monsoon rains, but remaining days are likely to be marred by rain. As the match goes on, a complete washout is also possible on certain days. The Test match will face several interruptions.

Rain in the region gets intense during evening or at night. But continuous rain showers will dampen the pitch and slow down the outfield. More delay can be expected on this account.

As Monsoon advances across Bangladesh, it will lead to intensification of rainfall activity in most parts of the country.

Fatullah is currently observing temperatures in the 30s but forecast suggests rain and thundershowers in coming days.

Rain will affect play and thus Day 1 and 2 are of extreme importance, strategically.
