Heavy rain delays Day-2 play

DHAKA: Heavy rain delayed the start of the play on the second day of the one-off Test between Bangladesh and India at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium, Fatullah on Thursday.

The play was scheduled to begin at 9:30am – 30 minutes earlier than the usual timing.

The Play is unlikely to start in the first session of the day.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) twitted around 10:25am, “Its day 2 and raining heavily in the morning at Fatullah However, no chance of play for the first session.”

The teams are staying at their hotels. They will leave the hotel when weather becomes normal for the play, said the curator of BCB.

Earlier on Wednesday, despite having 34 overs lost due to rain interruption and bad light, Bangladesh have already on the back foot at stumps on Day-one of the one-off Test.

India scoring 239 runs without losing any wicket was on the driving seat. Shikhar Dhawan bounced back with a very aggressive unbeaten 150. Murali Vijay was also solid with his 89 not out. The pair scored their second 200-run opening partnership.

India with the advantage of bowling last on this wicket has its grip very firm on the test. Unless the weather interferes it will be extremely challenging for Bangladesh to save the match from here.

Meanwhile, Met office forecasted heavy rainfall is likely to continue for next couples of day.

Bangladesh Meteorological Department has recorded 11 millimeters rainfall in capital between 6:00am and 7:30am.

The rainfall occurred as trough of low lies over North West Bay and Southwest and monsoon has advanced up to central part of Bangladesh, according to sources of met office.
