DHAKA: Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay had scored 173 and 150 to anchor India to 462-6 at stumps in their rain-interrupted first innings batting of the one-off test against Bangladesh on Friday.

After visiting the ground and saw its condition, the umpires declared that last session’s play of the day three has been called off for the day at 4.10pm as rainfall has been pouring in phases since lunch break.

Play of the day four will resume at 9.30am Saturday.

Earlier, Bangladesh took six wickets of India after the visitors resumed their rain-interrupted first innings batting on the third day at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium, Fatullah.

Star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan took the four wickets while young leg spinner Jubair Hossain took the other two.

Currently Harbhajan and Ashwin were at the crease with 5 and 2-run each. India scored 462-run after 103.3-over.

Earlier, rain interrupted the first day’s play while heavy rain washed out the play on the second day of the lone test match and once again rain halted the match for more than an hour after the lunch of day three.

On Wednesday, despite having 34 overs lost due to rain interruption and bad light, India scored 239 runs with no loss at stumps on Day-1.

Dhawan bounced back with a very aggressive unbeaten 150. Murali Vijay was also solid with his 89 not out. The pair scored their second 200-run opening partnership.

India with the advantage of bowling last on this wicket has its grip very firm on the test.

Meanwhile, met office on Friday said light to moderate rain/thunder showers is likely to occur in Dhaka and its neighborhood area in the day.

The rainfall occurred as trough of low lies over North West Bay and Southwest and monsoon has advanced up to central part of Bangladesh, according to sources of met office.
