Tigers pose 161-run target

DHAKA: Bangladesh posed 161-run target for visiting South Africa in the first one-day international of three-match ODI series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur in city Friday.

After winning the toss and deciding to bat first, the tigers scored 160-run losing all wickets after 36.3-over.

Shakib Al Hasan was the top scorer with 48-run while Nasir Hossain, Soumya Sarkar and Mushfiqur Rahim amassed 31, 27 and 24 runs respectively.

Debutant Proteas pacer Kagiso Rabada grabbed a hat-trick. The victims of the hat-trick were Tamim Iqbal (0), Litton Das (0) and Mahmudullah (0).

Rabada was the second bowler to take a hat-trick on debut in ODIs. Taijul Islam of Bangladesh was the first ever bowler to take such credit.

Later, Rabada took three more wickets and extended the tally to six. This is the best bowling figure by any debutant in ODI history.

Besides, Chris Morris took two wickets while Imran Tahir and JP Duminy took one each.

The rain hit match, however, was curtailed to 40 overs a side. The match is being played under the new ODI rules, in which there need not be compulsory fielders in the 15-yard circle.

In addition to the removal of the batting Powerplay and free-hits for all no-balls, five fielders are now allowed outside the 30-yard circle during the last 10 overs.
