Blown Out Dynamites Devastates Vikings

BPL# 3 Match 9 Dhaka Dynamites Vs Chittagong Vikings.

Dhaka Dynamites 96/4 (Shadman Islam 45, Shaikat Ali 23, Naeem Islam 3/7) beat Chittagong Vikings 92 All Out (Naeem Islam 29, TM Dilshan 20, Nasir Hossain 3/12, Mustafizur Rahman 3/ 14) by 6 Wickets

Player of the Match: Shadman Islam

Dynamites unleashed two of their rookies Shadman Islam and Saikat Ali yesterday after getting diffused in the previous match. The two youngsters ably unplugged the fuse to blow out pathetic Vikings after set to chase an easy target.

Majestic Mustafiz and always-enterprising Nasir Hossain earlier played hell in strong Chittagong batting causing them succumb to a very low score of 92. Dynamites won by 6 wickets.

Matches of BPL are increasingly getting nightmare for the batsmen as wickets are appearing more and more bowler friendly. Other reasons may be most of the players are not yet accustomed to playing T20 cricket.

Most of the batsmen are losing wickets trying to manufacture strokes without even getting feel of the wickets. No form of cricket not even T20 can be won without application of batsmen.

Rotating the strikes, playing in the gaps with soft hands are also essential elements. 4-5 singles every over can set a launching pad for later over onslaughts. Every team especially teams chasing are losing too many wickets too early and losing their way in scaling over easier targets.

The smartest change the Dynamites made yesterday in blooding two local youngsters yesterday and tasking them opening the innings in the chase. They delivered making the chase easier for the middle order senior pros.

Vikings choosing to bat looked weary and confused. For me Dynamites have the most potent bowling attack very suitable for the Dhaka wicket. Mustafiz is enigma now. Batsmen look for hiding when he appears.

Abul Hasan and Farhad Reza struck two deadly blows removing Tamim and Anamul within the first three overs with virtually nothing on board. Tamim got a rough deal given caught behind off Abul Hossain when TV replays showed the ball clearly missed his bat.
Anamul Haque was out lbw, trying to pull Farhad Reza in the next over. Teenager Yasir Ali started with flair with a flurry of boundaries but succumbed to the guiles of Mustafiz. Spinners Yasir Shah and Musharraf Hossain also chipped in.

Nasir and Mustafiz then destroyed Vikings with wonderful exhibition of pace and spin combination. 8 of the 11 batsmen could not even reach double figures.

Naeem Islam played a defiant unbeaten innings of 29 and Dilshan could play a brief innings of 20. All bowlers played their part but Nasir (3/12 ) and Mustafiz (3/14 ) were main destroyers.

Sangakkara read the scripts well. He took smart decision of sending two rookies looking for displaying their talents were sent into bat. The more experienced seniors were held back to repair damage if that happened. Shadman and Saikat.

They had not worries in handling Mohammad Amir and Saeed Ajmal two of the tormentors of world cricket in not too distant past. 45 runs were produced in the first wicket. Half the way was traversed. While Mustafiz looked unplayable earlier on Amir and Shafiul could do little.

But Naeem Islam with his offies created a bit of a stutter taking 3/ 7 in his 3 overs. Dynamites eventually blew out Vikings with 17 balls left of the play. Shadman produced a polished 45 exactly in the manner the doctor prescribed.

After 10 matches of BPL3 favorites have started emerging. Rangpur Riders, Dhaka Dynamites and Comilla Victorians are better placed. But many matches were won and lost by the barest of margin. Poor umpiring are proving an unnecessary disgrace. Wickets are looking treacherous. But it is a pleasing sign that many local players are performing.

20 Years old Shadman maturing from under 19 and Bangladesh A in his very first match against high quality bowling proved his class winning man of the match award. Saikat Ali another ex Under 19 player also proved his merit.

Dynamides are back of track but Vikings have major issues to work out. May change of venues to their den in Chittagong may change their fate.
