Riders Created Issues for Dynamites

BPL 2015 Match #22 Rangpur Riders Vs Dhaka Dynamites Played at SBNCS on 6 December 2015

Rangpur Riders 136/4   (Jahurul Islam 35*, Daren Sammy 23, Abul Hasan 2/25)   beat Dhaka Dynamites   135/7(Nasir Hossain 30, K Sangakkara 29, Arafat Sunny 2/29) by 6 wickets

Player of the Match: Jahurul Islam (Rangpur Riders)

Riders got better off Dynamites in a better-contested second match at SBNCS yesterday compared with the low scoring one-sided first match. Dynamites could not explode batting first setting a moderate target of 136 for the riders, which they hurdled across scoring 136/4 in 18.2 overs.

Underrated local batsman Jahurul Islam Omi led the chase. Rangpur Riders, Barisal Bulls and Comilla Victorians with 10 points each are in a comfortable zone.

Dynamites with 6 are now feeling the breadth of Sylhet Super Stars and Chittagong Vikings on its shoulders. The reaming matches of round one will witness intense battle of nerves for the 4th position for the qualification.

Rangpur Riders squeezed Dynamites with sharp and agile fielding and tight bowling. Three unnecessary run outs (Shadman Islam, Sangakkara and Mosaddek Hossain) at crucial stages of the match prevented Dynamites in putting up stronger challenges.

Dynamites fielded poorly and let opportunities slip out. This loss may hurt them badly in their mission BPL 2015 as they are just marginally ahead of the two bottoms placed teams Superstars and Vikings. Any further slippage may knock them out of the tournament. Riders are more and less through.

Young Shadman was looking good at the start but his efforts of setting up a solid foundation were cut short by Soumya running him out. His Partner Shamsur Rahman failed when he played back to a Shakib’s arm ball getting trapped in front.

Dynamites efforts were further pegged back as Shaikat Ali was also removed by Sammy. This brought together dynamic Sangakkara and Nasir together. They were cruising. But again another run out this time well set Sangakkara thwarted their mission.

Nasir also was soon cleaned up by Arafat Sunny. At 5/101 in 16 th over Dynamites lost its way. They could still develop challenging score had there been no more unfortunate run out. Young Mosaddek also failed victim. Dynamites could reach 135/7, which appeared about 20 runs too less.
Riders chase was featured by many play and miss by their openers Soumya and Simmons. But they survived till Soumya fell to his usual impulsive stroke play after another brief innings of 21. Simmons also could not last long. Both the openers were sent back by Abul Hasan.

Mustafiz removing Shakib early caused some panic in Riders camp. But Jahurul piloted them well playing a sensible unbeaten Innings of 35.Sammy gave him good company with a brief but useful innings of 23 . Dynamites fielded poorly.

Otherwise, their very strong bowling attack having Mustafiz, Irfan, Sohail Khan and Abul Hasan could create more pressure on Riders batting. Abul Hasan grabbed two wickets. Mustafiz was looking unplayable. But as told the match could be interesting if Dynamites could score 20 more runs.

This loss has created some worries for Dynamites. They are now at fourth position with 6 points. Comilla Victorians, Barisal Bulls and Rangpur Riders all with 10 points are assured of moving through.

Sylhet Super Kings and Chittagong Vikings have four points. If Dhaka lose all their remaining matches or Superstars or Vikings win all theirs then Dynamites journey BPL 2015 will be over. Fight for qualification for the fourth place is now delicately poised with lot to play for.
