India beat New Zealand by 120-run

DHAKA: India Under 19s beat New Zealand Under-19s by 120-run in the 12th Match of ICC Under-19 World Cup 2016 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur in city on Saturday (January 30).

New Zealand Under-19s captain JL Finnie won the toss and invited India to bat first in the Group D match that kicked off at 9:00am (local time).

Putting into bat first, India youth scored 258-run losing eight wickets off their allocated 50-over.

Sarfaraz N Khan was the top scorer with 74-run. Besides, RR Pant, Armaan Jaffer and MK Lormor scored 57, 46 and 45 runs respectively.

ZN Gibson picked up three wickets while NG Smith and R Ravindra took two wickets each.

In response, New Zealand Under 19s lost all wickets to score 138 runs in 31.3-over. CK Leopard was the top scorer with 40. FH Allen, TTB Scott and AA Parikh took 29, 29 and 26 runs respectively.

MK Lormor picked up five wickets but it was Avesh Khan who nipped New Zealand’s chance of chasing down the target by taking four top order wickets within 10.2-over.

India Under-19s have bagged their first match against Ireland while New Zealand Under-19s had a shocking loss against Nepal Under 19s.
