Windies upset Bangladesh

DHAKA: West Indies entered the ICC Under-19 World Cup final slated for Sunday (February 14) where they will face three-time champions India.

Chasing 227-run target set by hosts Bangladesh, Windies won by three wickets with 8 balls remaining at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Thursday.

Of the Windies bowlers, SK Springer, SO Hetmyer and KU Cartyscored 62, 60 and 22 runs respectively.

The Man of the Match award was given to Shamar Springer, who came up with a valuable performance with 62 runs off 88 balls.

Bangladesh never went away, and fought and fought and fought.

When Springer on strike, Bangladesh captain Mehedi Hasan Miraz, who earlier took two wickets, himself come to bowl the 48th over.

After losing to England by 61 runs in the tournament opener, Caribbeans beat Fiji by 262 runs before scoring a thrilling. Then, they secured a two-run win over Zimbabwe to qualify for the quarterfinal.

In the quarterfinal, West Indies upset Pakistan.
