India lose 3 early wickets

DHAKA: India lost three wickets with a score of 27 runs at seventh over in the ICC Under-19 World Cup Final in Dhaka on Sunday (February 14).

West Indies bowlers struck Indian batsmen and took early three wickets at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.

Till filing of the report, India, the three-time champion of the tournament, have scored 33 runs in 9.2 overs.

Sarfaraz Khan and Washington Sundar are at the crease with 5 and 6 runs respectively.    

AS Joseph bagged three wickets for West Indies.a

West Indies Under-19s, who chose to field in the match that began at 9:00am.

After toss, India under-19s captain Ishan Kishan said, 'We were going to bat first. Our target is to set-up a good total and defend it later. We need to stick to our strengths, our plan is to get a good score. The first 10 overs will be crucial.'

Shimron Hetmyer said, 'We are going to bowl first, are looking to make use of the early morning conditions. We had a good practice session and are ready for the final.'

India, the fifth time finalist, take on a team that has never won the tournament.

On the other hand, a different West Indian team emerged. They surprised Pakistan with their hostility and knocked out hosts, Bangladesh, in an emotional semi-final.
