DHAKA: No one having any cricket sense would deny that the Wonder Boy Mustafiz, the magical “Fizz” has rocked the cricket world with his uncanny brilliance.
Cricket super stars of the past and present have well recognized the enormous talent of this freak genius from Bangladesh. But over the last few days social media and even Bangladeshi senior policy makers have possibly done a bit too much.
There is no doubt Bangladesh is being talked along with Mustafiz every time he is on the scene which makes any Bangladeshi anywhere proud. But terming him national hero and declaring red carpet reception for him must be considered a way too early.
Even placing his photograph in the outskirts of important offices may be considered immature action. These may put enormous pressure on his young shoulder to perform exceptional magic every time he plays. Let the kid enjoy his cricket playing without pressure.
In one year “Fizz” has reset few records in ODI and T20. He bowls his variations at deceptive pace. He has already proved that it is even very difficult for the top batsmen to decode him. Many no Bangla speaking cricket personalities may have thought learning Bangla instead could be better to deal with him as his English or any other language is not at all good to get across him.
He has to go a long way to grow into a legendary figure like Wasim Akram or Glen McGrath .But certainly he has the potential. He must be given time to settle in all environment, develop new skills, adjust in changing circumstances. He needs a Mashrafee type mentor. Some sessions with Wasim Akram may be useful.
He has gone through two spells of injury already. Injury and fast bowlers are Siamese twins. How many times amazing Mashrafee has lied under surgeon’s knife? Mashrafee is the one and only of his kind. We do not want Mustafiz go through that ordeal. He must be carefully nursed. He will have a very busy season.
He will definitely appear in all matches of his franchise Sun Risers Hyderabad .There is possibility SRH may qualify for the knock out stage. Then he will also appear for his Dhaka team Mohammedan SC is they qualify for the super league.
There are few talks that he may not be allowed by BCB to play for English county Sussex. I think his type of bowler would love English condition. All great fast bowlers of the past learned a lot from playing in England. I would rather suggest resting him after IPL and letting him play in England. But BCB must keep track. I am sure Bangladeshis in England will love to see him there.
We all like Mustafiz along with the tiger squad continue making us proud. He is bringing joy to the nation. Let him continue doing that. Let us be very careful in not over acting with his performance. Let us control our exuberance .What we will do when Mustafiz hopeful bring us greater glories like winning series against England at home , Champions trophy or may be even world cup. Let us all wish his continued journey along the purple path.
