DHAKA: Sunrisers Hyderabad won their maiden IPL title by beating RoyaL Challengers Bangalore BY 8-run in the final at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Sunday (May 29).

Sunrisers showed their intent early by opting to bat against Royal Challengers at a venue where bigger scores were chased down nonchalantly.

Talismanic leader David Warner top-scored with a 38-ball 69, before Yuvraj Singh and Ben Cutting lent the finishing touches with 23-ball 38 and an unbeaten 15-ball 39 respectively to help them post 208-run losing seven wickets.

However, it was SRH’s bowling line-up consisting Mustafizur Rahman, Bhubaneswar Kumar, Barindar Sran and co, considered as the best in the tournament, delivered the title.

CJ Jordan picked up three wickets for RCB while S Aravind took two and YS Chahal took one.

While chasing, the Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli opening pair wiped 114 in 10.3 overs. Gayle alone contributed 76, with four fours and eight sixes.

Sunrisers' bowling attack was under pressure early on, but they clinically applied the brakes after Gayle's wicket.

Even without RCB’s top three, 47 off 24 balls was still within the realms of possibility. Shane Watson, Stuart Binny and Sachin Baby are capable of hitting big sixes.

But, Mustafizur Rahman picked up Shane Watson in the 17th over with an off-cutter delivery with unfailing accuracy.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar then delivered four successive yorkers in the 18th over to snuff out the game.

SRH’s Ben Cutting was adjudged the Player of the match while RCB captain V Kohli was Player of the series.

Mustafizur Rahman won the Emerging Player of the Season.
