DHAKA: Bangladesh national cricket team’s newly appointed bowling coach Courtney Walsh is expected to reach Dhaka on Saturday (September 3).
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan Papon confirmed this to press on Friday, right after his arrival from Singapore.
“We are expecting him by Saturday night. He will be a great addition to our fast bowling department,” he added.
“Walsh is completely aware of what to do. Now, only time will say how much he will be able to give to our cricketers,” Papon added.
Also known as ‘pace battery’, the celebrated fast bowler is also eager to work with Bangladesh cricket team, he said in a statement on Thursday.
In his career, he once held the world record in test cricket with 519 wickets in 132 matches; this still is a record for his country. He also claimed 227 wickets in 205 One Day Internationals.
After his retirement in 2001, he worked with several teams as a mentor. He was among the coaching staff of West-Indian U-19 team.
He also was a bowling adviser to a team in Caribbean Premier League. Walsh also served as a selector of WI Cricket Board.
