DHAKA: Afghanistan seamer Mirwais Ashraf said their bowling attack is going to be the key to success against host Bangladesh in the upcoming three-match one day international (ODI) series.
The first ODI is scheduled to be held at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur in Dhaka on September 25.
While the Afghans have always been more famous for their powerful batting, Ashraf has said that the bowlers are not to be taken lightly and can be the turning point of the series.
The series against Bangladesh is a great opportunity for the visitors as this is their first bilateral series here.
Ashraf also termed the warm-up match against Bangladesh Cricket Board XI as “a great preparation” after spending the last 20 days training in India.
He further said: “Fareed and Janat are young and talented seam bowlers. They came from the U19s, and have the ability to swing the ball both ways. They deserve to be in the national team.”
Ashraf’s all-round performance took the Afghanistan team to 66-run victory over the board XI.
Uncapped Mosaddek Hossain, who has been included in the squad, was the highest scorer (76-run off 97-ball) for the BCB XI.
