DHAKA: Bangladesh have won 2-1 ODI series against visiting Afghanistan at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur of Dhaka on Saturday (October 1).
The Tigers defeated the Afghans by 141-run in the final match.
The visitors lost all wickets to score 138 runs in 33.5 overs. Nawroz Mangal scored 33 while Rahmat Shah took responsible 36 for their team.
Mosharraf Hossain picked up 3 wickets while Taskin Ahmed took 2.
Earlier, the tigers set a 280-run target for the visiting team. Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza won the toss and decided to bat first in the match that kicked off at 2:30pm local time.
Tamim Iqbal’s ton (118) and Sabbir Rahman’s half-century (65) helped tigers score 279 in the stipulated 50 overs. However, they lost 8 wickets. Innings concluded with Mahmudullah’s 32 off 45 balls.
Tamim was adjudged Player Man of the Match and Man of the Series for his outstanding performance.
Bangladesh made two changes - Mosharraf Hossain returned in place of Taijul Islam and Shafiul Islam returned in place of Rubel Hossain in the other change.
Mosharraf played his first ODI in more than eight years ago.
