DHAKA: Visiting England have managed to take vital 24-run lead in their first innings over Bangladesh on the second day of the second and final match of Rocket Test Series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Saturday (October 29).
The visitors have scored 244-run losing all wickets in 81.3-over thanks to the dogged 99-run 9th wicket partnership between Chris Woakes (46) and Adil Rashid (44*).
Joe Root amassed 56-run while Bairstow took 24 helping the visiting team to stay on course.
19-year old Bangladesh off-spinner Mehedi Hasan Miraz broke the Woakes-Rashid partnership. He picked up six wickets (6/82) in the innings. This was his second five wicket haul in as many matches.
Besides, Taijul Islam and Shakib Al Hasan took three and one wicket respectively.
Earlier on the first day, Bangladesh scored 220-run losing all wickets in their first innings.
Tamim Iqbal hit his eighth century and third against England.
