DHAKA: Defendant Champion Comilla Victorians beat Khulna Titans by 5-wicket with 8-ball to spare in the 37th Match of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL)-2016 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur in Dhaka on Friday (December 2).
Victorians’ West Indies player Marlon Samuels struck an unbeaten 69-run steering the team ashore while Liton Das hit 24-run off 11-ball.
Besides, Imrul Kayes and Mashrafe Mortaza amass 20-run each.
Earlier, Victorians captain Mashrafe Mortaza won the toss and invited Titans to bat first in the match that started at 1:30 pm.
Titans batsmen scored 141-run losing six wickets from their stipulated 20-over.
Mahmudullah, Hasanuzzaman and Abdul Mazid scored 40, 29 and 18 runs respectively helping the team to reach the respectable total from a relatively poor start.
Mortaza picked up three wickets while Mohammad Sharif, Mohammad Saifuddin and Rashid Khan took one wicket each.
In response, Victorians chased down the target in 18.4-over losing only five wickets.
BAC Howell picked up two wickets of Comilla while Junaid Khan, Mosharraf Hossain and Shafiul Islam took one wicket each.
Samuels was adjudged player of the match.
