DHAKA: Host New Zealand beat Bangladesh by six wickets in the first T20 international of three-match series at McLean Park, Napier on Tuesday (January 3).
Batting first, visitors scored 141-run losing eight wickets from their 20-over quota. Mahmudullah scored a responsible 52-run off 47-ball when wickets were tumbling around him.
Besides, Mosaddek Hossain, Sabbir Rahman, Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal amassed 20, 16, 14 and 11 runs respectively. Eighteen runs came from wide deliveries.
Lockie Ferguson picked up three Bangladesh wickets while debutant Ben Wheeler took two. Besides, Matt Henry, Colin de Grandhomme and MJ Santner took one wicket each.
In response, the home team chased down the target of 142-run losing four wickets only with two overs to spare.
Kane Williamson and Colin de Grandhomme scored 73 and 41 runs respectively.
Shakib Al Hasan, Rubel Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman picked up one wicket each.
Earlier, Tiger captain Mashrafe Mortaza won the toss and elected to bat first his 50th T20 international match.
Host Blackcaps played with three debutants -- Tom Bruce, Ben Wheeler, Lockie Ferguson -- in the match.
