DHAKA: The batsmen of visiting Bangladesh have handled the howling wind and gale than the bowlers of host New Zealand as the rain-affected first day’s play of first match at Basin Reserve in Wellington on Thursday (January 12) came to an end.
The Tigers have scored 154 runs losing three wickets -- Imrul Kayes, Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah -- from 40.2-over.
Tiger opener Tamim Iqbal scored a blazing 56-run innings off 50-ball, his 20th test fifty, while Kayes scored only 1-run. Mahmudullah took 26 runs before he chased a wide delivery and nicked behind.
Currently, Mominul Haque and Shakib Al Hasan are in the crease with 64 and5 runs respectively till bad light stopped day’s play.
Trent Boult, Tim Southee and Neil Wagner took one wicket each for the Kiwis.
Play will begin at 10am, 30 minutes early than regular time, on Friday (January 13).
