DHAKA: Ace all rounder Shakib Al Hasan and Bangladesh’s Test team Captain Mushfiqur Rahim have scored centuries in the second day of the first test against host New Zealand at Basin Reserve in Wellington on Friday (January 13).
Bangladesh have went into tea break scoring 391-run losing four wickets. Shakib and Mushfiqur are on the crease with 126 and 112 runs respectively.
Earlier on the second day, Mominul and Shakib resumed the proceedings for the Tigers with 64 and 5 runs respectively. Mominul returned to pavilion without disturbing the scorer in the ball of Tim Southee.
Shakib and Mushfiq also have crossed the 200-run partnership (231). This is the second highest away partnership for Bangladesh.
Mohammad Ashraful and Mushfiqur Rahim recoded the highest partnership of 267-run against Sri Lanka in Galle Test in 2013.
Overall, this is the fourth highest partnership for Bangladesh batsmen. Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes recorded the highest partnership (312) against Pakistan in Khulna Test in 2015.
Besides, Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah scored 56 and 26 runs respectively.
Southee picked up two wickets while Boult and Wagner took one wicket each so far.
