DHAKA: Ace all rounder Shakib Al Hasan hit his first double century in test cricket while Captain Mushfiq hit 159 runs in the second day of the first test against host New Zealand at Basin Reserve in Wellington on Friday (January 13).
At the end of the second day, Bangladesh scored 542-run losing seven wickets. In the fifth wicket partnership, Shakib and Mushfiqur took 359-run, the highest for the Tigers in any wicket against any country.
Currently, Sabbir Rahman is on the crease with 10 runs while Mehedi Hasan Miraz lost his wicket in the last ball of the day.
Earlier at the start of the day, Mominul and Shakib resumed the proceedings for the Tigers with 64 and 5 runs respectively. Mominul returned to pavilion without disturbing the scorer in the ball of Tim Southee.
Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah scored 56 and 26 runs respectively on the first day.
Wagner picked up three wickets while Southee and Boult took two wickets each.
